The 300 artefacts presented in this exhibition ranged from Roman marbles, Japanese woodcuts, Renaissance and Baroque paintings to 19th century photographs and contemporary works of differing media.
Partners in this project were Stanton Williams Architects, who designed the exhibition to envelop the imposing Barbican architecture in 6.0m high temporary display walls. We manufactured these walls and the secure and conservation grade showcases that were incorporated into them. Other bespoke freestanding showcases were manufactured and located throughout the gallery’s two floors.
The design development process included the production of detailed construction drawings for all elements. Our showcase drawings were used, not just for manufacturing and installation, but also for lender approval and to inform the art handlers - enabling them to install artworks easily.
The exhibition was installed over a period of 10 days.
